Latest version aversion

It always hits us right in the face. Whenever we want to download an application we are always prompted to download the latest version. What is it with these guys? why would I want to download and use a version that has not yet been tested and be bothered by all the inherent bugs when all I want is to get some work done?

Remember never download the latest version! Leave the other guinea pigs to test it out first!

HP 1050 - Cheap All in one print scan copy

The Deskjet 1050 is currently the best valued All In One!

Initial cost in India is around Rs. 3,700 to Rs. 3,900 (Depending on where you buy)
It comes with Starter cartridges. Approximately 30% ink quantity of new ones.

New cartridges CMY (Color) + Black is around Rs. 1,500.

I have found the scan as well as print quality excellent even on normal copier paper (Better on Photo paper).
Copying is adequately fast without on the fly copying (it prints the copy while scanning the original).
All in all, It is a great All in one for the Home or Small Office with small print volumes.

HP 1050 's Cartridges can be refilled (about two times) more on this in another post!

Here's a tip - Inkjet Printer Spares compatibility

Hi,

Remember this!
If any two Inkjet Printers share the same model of Cartridges, it is highly likely that most of them also share the same spares (Mechanical). Keeping this in mind, if you don't find a particular spare, you can consider cannibalizing a dead printer!!!

Cheers!

Laser Printer Light image solution!

Sometimes, a Laser Printer gives out pages with the matter lightening towards one edge of the page. If the cartridge is alright then the problem lies with the Laser Scanner Unit (LSU).

Note: Please try this fix only if you really know what you are doing!!!!

Locate the LSU (usually a black colored box). Open it. Inside, you should find a Hexagonal Rotor. This is the Mirror Unit. Clean each face of the rotor with a Very soft tissue lightly moistened with IPA solution. Clean the lenses (one on the laser window and the convex one inside). reassemble the LSU.

Problem shoul;d now be solved!

BSNL 3G with other SIM

Hey, here's a gem of information for all.

The BSNL 3G USB modem (Stick) does not work with any SIM other than BSNL! It gives you an "Invalid SIM" message.

The fix for this is as follows:
->Download this : Visiontek_82GH Software
->First let the BSNL thing install it's software.
->go to "c:\Program Files\BSNL 3g" rename the "BNSL3g.exe" to something else.
->Restart the system.
->Now install the Visiontek Software.
->You can now use any SIM 2G ( GPRS/EDGE ) or 3G (UMTS) with the BSNL Device.

Epson LX 300+II

Hey Guys!
I found out this weird problem. An Epson Lx300+II (spell it differently if you want to!) Printer stopped working after emitting a lot of smoke!@!
After some checks , I found out it was nothing more serious than a vented ( Leaked ) capacitor!!!.
The filter Capacitor next to the Bridge Rectifier (Black Thing with four leads) had leaked.
I replaced it. it is now working fine!!!

Laser Printer does not initialize (All lights on or blinking)

I am sure everyone has faced problem of stuck Laser Printer.

The usual Symptoms are :

When powered on, All Lights Light on or All lights blink. The motor does not rotate at all.
Don't Panic! The Printer is Not dead! It's alive and kicking.

This is usually caused if
1) Paper is jammed.
2) Obstruction in Paper Path.
3) Piece of paper stuck in fuser (from where the paper comes out).

The solutions are as below:
-> Turn off the printer.
-> Disconnect the power and data cables.
-> Take out the cartridge.
-> If sheet of paper is found, Pull out gently in the direction it would normally move.
-> Check for small pieces of paper remaining.
-> check for any other obstructions (Pieces of plastic, Pins, Paper Clips, Cockroaches etc.) and remove if found.
-> Re-insert cartridge and re-connect printer.
->It should work fine.
