How to unlock Huawei e1732 Idea 3G Netsetter Data Card
The Huawei e1732 is the latest 3G Netsetter Data Card offering from Idea. It is a WCDMA / EDGE / HSPA device with support of up to 7.2 mbps Data speeds.
after searching a lot, I found out the solution and successfully unlocked my e1732 Idea netsetter. The Procedure is as follows:
1) Disable Antivirus Software
2) Download the following two files :
CDMA Workshop
Huawei e1732 Downgrader
3) Insert a SIM (non IDEA) and connect the device to computer.
4) Find the Common COM port for the device :
Right Click "My Computer" -> Properties -> Device Manager -> Ports (COM & LPT) -> HUAWEI Mobile Connect - Application Interface (Note down the COM port associated with this e.g: COM7)
5) Run the CDMA Workshop. In the "Main" Tab, under "COM settings AT Mode", select the COM port you noted down. Now click "Connect" and then click "Read".
6) Go to the “Security” tab -> Type “000000” in the blank box under “SPC” -> Click on “SPC” -> Click on “Send” with 'Default (nv_read)'.
7) Now, Click on “Memory” tab -> under NV Items click "Read" -> Now a “Conform” box appears, Click “OK” -> Now a “NV Items Backup” appears; In the box next to “Last NV Item” type “9999” and Click “OK” -> Save the file by giving a name you like (e.g: E1732data etc.)
8) When saving reaches 100%, an Information box appears, click "OK" and close CDMA Workshop.
9) Extract and run "e1732 downgrader". Accept the Licence agreement and click "Next". Wait till your modem is found. [Don’t select / check on “Auto remove the device after update”] click "Next" -> (Don’t remove your data card until the process finishes) -> click "Start" > At the end of “Downloading Programs…” you may get a “Update Failure!” error -> Click “OK” -> Click “Finish".
10) Unplug your device, wait a few seconds and the connect it again.
11) Open CDMA workshop and repeat step Number 5)
12) Now go to "memory" tab, under "NV items" click "Write", click OK in the confirm box and select the file you had saved earlier. When process reaches 100%, a success message appears, click "OK".
13) now go to "Main" tab and click "Disconnect".
14) Close CDMA workshop. if a message appears, click "No"
15) enable Antivirus. if you want, restart your system once.
CONGRATULATIONS, e1732 is now unlocked and will work with all SIMS.
Note: you will have to set the APN manually in the modem options (Device Manager->Modems->Huawei....->Advanced->extra initialization commands. command is: AT+CGDCONT=1,"ip","yourAPN"
or you can download Huawei Mobile Partner software and create a profile for each different SIM and add the APN in the profile.
I will give the APN's of popular mobile operators in my next post.
